WHY THIS EXISTS
Some journeys are worth doing once, perfectly.
Rooted Common was built on a simple belief: that travel should change you. Not the kind of change that comes from ticking boxes or collecting passport stamps — but the slower, deeper shift that happens when you slow down enough to actually be somewhere.
The Founding Journey is where that philosophy becomes real. Eight travelers. Seven nights. One extraordinary stretch of the Philippine archipelago, moving from the limestone karsts of El Nido to the shipwrecks and reefs of Coron. Curated, hosted, and photographed — so you can be entirely present.
This is not a tour. It is an invitation to travel differently.
AT A GLANCE
Everything you need to know, at a glance.
NOT A SCHEDULE. A RHYTHM.
Seven nights. Eight people. One arc.
THE ROUTE IS INTENTIONAL. THE PACE IS UNHURRIED.
Settle in.
Settle into life at the edge of the Bacuit Archipelago. Three nights at Maremegmeg Beach Club. Private days on the water, long lunches, hidden lagoons and evenings that belong entirely to the group.
Disappear north.
Leave El Nido by private yacht and disappear north through one of Palawan's least-traveled stretches. Swim, snorkel and explore along the way before spending the night on a remote island, surrounded by little but sea and sky.
Arrive slowly.
Arrive in Coron by sea and settle into an exceptional island retreat. Three final nights to explore the lagoons, reefs and limestone landscapes — with enough space left simply to enjoy where you are.
WHERE YOU'LL STAY
Chosen for character, not category.
Maremegmeg Beach Club
Your first three nights are at Maremegmeg Beach Club, a small beachfront retreat set beneath the limestone landscape of El Nido. Days begin barefoot. The sea is steps away. And at sunset, there is nowhere you need to be except exactly where you are.
A Private Island in Linapacan
Somewhere between El Nido and Coron, the road disappears entirely. We travel north by private yacht through the islands of Linapacan, stopping wherever the day invites us — a reef, an empty beach, water too clear to pass without getting in.
That evening, we come ashore on a private island. One night. Eight travelers. Dinner under the stars. Nothing scheduled for the morning except waking up there.
Our Linapacan island stay is currently being finalized. The exact property may change, but the experience will not: a private or exceptionally secluded island overnight of a standard worthy of the journey.
An Island Retreat in Coron
We reach Coron the way this journey deserves to arrive — by sea. For the final three nights, we trade expedition for restoration at one of Coron's exceptional island retreats.
Swim from shore. Explore the lagoons. Take a boat out when the mood strikes. Or do absolutely nothing for an afternoon. After four days moving through Palawan, this is where the journey slows all the way down.
Final Coron accommodation is selected according to group requirements and availability. Our priority is an exceptional island setting rather than a conventional stay in Coron town.
THE CROSSING
El Nido → Coron.
By private yacht.
We don't fly to Coron.
El Nido and Coron are separated by more than distance. Between them lies Linapacan — hundreds of islands, reefs, fishing communities and stretches of water most visitors simply pass over.
We don't. On the fourth morning, we leave El Nido behind. A private yacht carries just our group north through the islands — no fixed island-hopping checklist. The route follows the weather, the water and the judgment of our local crew.
We swim when the water looks impossible to resist. We stop for lunch somewhere without a restaurant. We stay overnight on an island. The following morning, we continue north toward Coron.
The transfer becomes part of the journey.
Vessel shown is representative of the private expedition yacht being considered for the Founding Journey. Final vessel is subject to availability and may be substituted with one of equal or higher standard.

QUESTIONS
Frequently asked.
Do I need to have traveled solo before?
No. Many people on this journey will be traveling independently for the first time. The group dynamic and hosted structure mean you are never navigating alone — but you will have as much solitude as you want.
What is the fitness level required?
Moderate. You should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain, swimming in open water, and spending time on boats. Optional scuba diving can be arranged in Coron for certified divers.
What is the typical age range?
We expect most travelers to be roughly 30–55, but curiosity, independence and openness matter far more to us than age.
Can couples or friends join together?
Yes, though we limit paired groups to two to preserve the dynamic of independent travelers. Please note this in your application.
When does the journey run?
The Founding Journey departs January 2027. Exact dates will be confirmed with applicants first. Future journeys will be announced separately.
What happens after I apply?
We will be in touch within 48 hours for a brief conversation. If it feels like a good fit on both sides, we will send you a formal invitation and payment details.
Is the $8,500 price final?
Yes. There are no hidden costs beyond international flights, travel insurance, and personal spending. Everything else is included.
What if I need to cancel?
We will share full cancellation terms with confirmed travelers. Given the small group size, we recommend comprehensive travel insurance that covers cancellation.
